The Pepe's story began back in 1990 when owners Andrew Aho and Todd Akerley were roommates at the University of Connecticut. After graduation, Andrew initially ventured into the building that originally housed Fred's Place, and previously Lafayette Escadrille. Todd joined him in early 1991.

Pepe's has had many looks and has endeared many people, customers and employees alike.. In the early years, the fledgling restaurant faced a lot of competition and hurdles. None of Pepe's successes would have been possible if not for the dedicated employees of the early years, and some good old fashioned hard work.

In 1998, Pepe's had it's first major renovation. A whole new bar area was constructed and the size of the restaurant doubled. Faced with some minor growing pains, and some new challenges, Pepe's grew from just "another pizza place" into one of the only full service non-corporate restaurants in Manchester. Being locally owned, Pepe's has always been able to maneuver quickly to satisfy the needs of a growing restaurant, without sacrificing quality and value.

To this day, Pepe's remains a restaurant for the family. The brick walled sports bar is always filled with family and friends watching the big game. And you always see Todd or Andrew wandering around, making sure everybody is having a great time.
